Icebergs made from plastic waste

Brilliant Idea:

Recycle waste bags and other plastics into imitation icebergs. Float these in areas where climate change is affecting wildlife habitat, such as the Arctic regions where seals and polar bears need ice floes to survive.

This idea came to me after attending a National Geographic Live presenation on 2/26/2020. Harp seals in the Gulf of St. Lawrence seek icebergs to deliver their pups. When no ice is available, the pups drown or the mother is forced to swim north to find available ice.

Specifications:
The iceberg would have to be similar in characteristics to real ice: large, floating, possibly able to provide a texture or temperature that feels realistic.

Imitation icebergs should be GPS tagged for monitoring and removal.

Next steps:
Float (get it? LOL!) this idea past someone who has recycling capabilities, plastics experts, wildlife biology experts, perhaps go to National Geographic for an Explorer Grant to pursue?
